The Melbourne Padel Open has set the benchmark for international padel in Australia, delivering 50 high-quality matches across five days at iPadel Melbourne to open the 2026 Cupra FIP Tour season in emphatic fashion.
With a packed international field and strong Australian representation, the tournament showcased the rapid growth of padel in Australia and its increasing presence on the global padel calendar, culminating in two epic finals on Sunday.
In the men’s draw, top seeds Sten Richters (NED) and Simone Cremona (ITA) continued their dominant run on the CUPRA FIP Tour, defeating no. 2 seeds Guillem Figuerola Santiago (ESP) and Roberto Belmont Pastor (ESP) in straight sets, 6–3, 6–3, to claim the Melbourne Padel Open title.
The victory marks three consecutive FIP titles for Richters and Cremona, following their triumphs at FIP Bronze Lyttos IV and FIP Bronze Qatar Doha II to close out their 2025 season. The pair showed composure and control throughout the week, only dropping sixteen games.

The women’s final saw no. 3 seeds Carla Fernandez Gonzalez (ESP) and Nerea Guerra Santana (ESP) deliver a commanding performance, defeating no. 4 seeds Cristina Carrascosa Cazorla (ESP) and Jimena Diaz De La Iglesia (ESP) 6–1, 6–2.
The win extends Fernandez Gonzalez and Guerra Santana’s unbeaten start to 2026 to seven matches, after opening their season with victory at the Australian Padel Tour National 1000 at Canberra Racquet Club.

Both winning pairs will now look to carry their red-hot form into the FIP Silver – Australian Padel Open, taking place at Game4Padel Docklands from 14–18 January, as Australia’s summer of padel continues.
