Melbourne is set to host the world’s top padel players as the 2026 Cupra FIP Tour kicks
off its season with the Melbourne Padel Open from 7–11 January 2026.
Played at premier padel venue iPadel Melbourne, the event provides a key opportunity
for players to build their rank and progress to higher-tier FIP events.
“There is no better way to start the year,” said Australian Crocs Captain Ross Taylor.
“These events in Australia just keep going from strength to strength. The vital experience
of competing against an international field gives us Australian players the perfect
opportunity to challenge ourselves.” he added.
Reigning Champions World No.82 Aimee Gibson (GBR) and World No.98 Catherine
Rose (GBR) will lead the Women’s draw at the Melbourne Padel Open, joined by 18 top
international players and 14 Australian players. The duo will step back onto the court
after a clean sweep at the Australian Padel Open, the Melbourne Padel Open and Red
Bull Rally Pro.
The men’s draw will be led by World No.97 Simone Cremona (ITA) and World No.135
Sten Richters (NED), who will be joined by 44 international competitors and 28
Australian players.
The Melbourne Padel Open comes after a year of continued growth for padel in
Australia, with increased participation, expanded court access, and stronger
competitive pathways supporting the sport’s rapid rise. This momentum has helped
position Australia to host higher-quality international events and continue building
opportunities for local players to test themselves on the international stage.
The Melbourne Padel Open sets the tone for another year of international padel
competition in Australia, reinforcing the country’s growing presence on the global padel
calendar.
