The Australian Padel Open takes centre stage from 14–18 January at Game4Padel Docklands, with the FIP Silver tournament set to deliver five days of elite international padel and one of the strongest fields ever assembled on Australian soil.
A major headline of the tournament is the presence of Sara Errani (ITA), one of the most accomplished athletes in global racquet sport. Currently world no. 3 in doubles, Errani is a former doubles world no. 1, one of only seven women to complete a Career Golden Slam in doubles, an Olympic gold medallist, and a nine-time Grand Slam champion across doubles and mixed doubles. She also reached a career-high singles ranking of world No.5, making her Italy’s most decorated tennis player by total career titles.
Errani will once again balance padel and tennis in Melbourne, competing at the Australian Padel Open before turning her focus to the Australian Open, where she will look to secure a historic 10th Grand Slam title. Her presence brings significant global attention to the Docklands tournament and highlights the growing crossover between elite tennis and padel.
Defending champions Aimee Gibson (GBR) and Catherine Rose (GBR) return to Docklands looking to defend their 2025 crown against a strong women’s field featuring 28 international players and 10 Australians. Also arriving in outstanding form are Carla Fernandez Gonzalez (ESP) and Nerea Guerra Santana (ESP), who will be aiming to extend their unbeaten streak in Australia after a dominant start to the season.
The men’s draw is led by Melbourne Padel Open champions Sten Richters (NED) and Simone Cremona (ITA), who enter the Australian Padel Open chasing an impressive fourth consecutive FIP title. They will be challenged by a deep and competitive men’s field comprising 60 international competitors alongside 32 Australians.
Australian players will also be firmly in focus, with several of the country’s top performers looking to make their mark in their biggest home tournament of the year. After a strong showing at the Melbourne Padel Open, local athletes will be eager to push deep into the draws and test themselves against the world’s best on home soil.
With champions returning, streaks on the line, and rising Australian talent ready to step up, the Australian Padel Open promises a week of world-class padel.
